Supporting local good causes

Over the past 40 years or more, Acton Aid have helped many local organisations and individuals who needed a helping hand.

If appropriate, the assistance given to individuals is totally confidential and only known to one or two trusted members of Acton Aid.

Examples of help we have given include:

  • We regularly give help, support and financial assistance to under privileged children. This may be to provide the funds to go on school trips, pay for music lessons or help pay for uniforms.
  • We have sponsored local children to take part in “Operation Raleigh” We provide Christmas hampers to the elderly in the Parish.
  • We have developed a children’s play area in the Parish Meadows.
  • We provide support to local schools ranging from financing much needed equipment to redecorating class rooms and doing general repair work.
  • We provided funds to help to establish the Iron Acton Community Choir.
  • We funded the re-birth of the parish magazine “Local Poyntz” which is distributed throughout the Parish on a regular basis.
  • We helped fund the launch of the Iron Acton Cinema.
  • We contributed to the rebuilding of the Iron Acton Parish Hall.
  • We supported a crèche at the Iron Acton New Year party.
  • We help to distribute and set up Christmas Trees throughout the village.
  • We provide “man power” to set up and help run the May Day.
  • We have working parties to clean up rubbish from the village.
  • We have previously raised funds for The British Legion, St Peters Hospice, Homeless in Bristol and many more good causes.If you are a resident of Iron Acton Parish and need assistance (or know of someone who needs help) press the SUPPORT NEEDED button to make an application to Acton Aid.
